Rajma chawal recipe

Rajma chawal is one of the popular Punjabi dish, which cooks on every weekend in our houses. Here I am going to share delicious rajma chawal recipe make with simple and easy steps at home.

Main ingredients

  • 1 cup rajma
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2-3 medium-sized onion ( Roughly chopped)
  • 3-4 tomatoes  (roughly chopped)
  • ginger-garlic paste
  • 2-3 green chilli
  • 1 tej patta
  • 2-3 laung
  • 1 Tbsp cumin seeds(jeera)
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 2 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • salt ( as required)

STEPS TO MAKE RAJMA CHAWAL

1] Wash rajma and soak it for overnight (but if your rajma is fresh you can retain them in hot water for 1-2 hour)

2] drain and put it on pressure cooker add 2 cup water ( water should be sufficient so that rajma sink well in water), at the same time add 1 tbsp salt.

3] cook rajma on medium- high flame in pressure cooker , after 2-3 whistle turn off the flame and let the steam release by itself.

4] Make a paste of tomatoes, onion, ginger, garlic in a mixture jar . grind it well.

5] put kadai on stove, heat oil add dry spices( 1 Tej Patta, 1 tbsp cumin seed, laung, black cardamom) sizzle it then add tomato, onion paste sprinkle red chilli powder, salt( as required) turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and stir for 10-15 minutes or till the oil kept separated from gravy.

6] add boiled rajma with water in kadai mix it well with gravy at this stage put garam masala powder, covered it and cook for another 10-15 minute

7] garnish you rajma chawal with green coriender and serve with rice or roti.
